Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
Helping a senior with dementia one day a week from 9am to 4pm. Mostly sitting with him while he watches tv. Making sure he doesn’t leave the house and get lost. Supervising meal times – he can feed himself but needs his food cut up and sometimes holds the utensils the wrong way. Reminding him where the garbage is and where the bathroom is – he can use the toilet on his own, but sometimes forgets to flush. He is fully mobile and healthy, except for the memory issues.
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
- Caregiving experience, especially with dementia patients, would be an asset.
- Patience, compassion, and the ability to de-escalate if he gets agitated. (He isn’t violent, he just gets anxious sometimes because it’s scary to not understand what’s happening when you have dementia.)
- You must be reliable.
- Vulnerable sector check and references required.
