Wages: $55,000- $65,000 Per Annum
Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
- Develop and implement programs that promote the preservation and transmission of cultural knowledge related to the land
- Organize workshops, events, and educational materials to educate children and their families, and staff about traditional land-based practices and their cultural significance
- To provide traditional-based activities and services to individuals and groups; priority to service and support children, youth with developmental needs; acquire, maintain, and care for education tools/resources (e.g. language resources, history books, art, and traditional and sacred items)
- Coordinate the delivery of traditional education; promote language restoration and facilitate transmission of cultural knowledge
- Connect with Elders and/or traditional knowledge resource people to conduct ceremonies; support the planning of traditional ceremony, including dancing, singing, drumming, community and/or seasonal celebrations/ feasts
- Sharing the traditional teachings of land, water and animals
- Coordinate land-based activities for children, youth and families based on their needs
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
- Post-secondary education in Indigenous studies and/or combination of equivalent and relevant education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated and related work experience within an Indigenous organization or community
- Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- An Indigenous language is an asset; Proficiency in MS office applications and Database applications, statistical and narrative reporting
- Good organizational. administrative and report writing skills
- Ability to work within the established policies and procedures of the organization
- Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel when required
- Must possess current First Aid and CPR certificate or be willing to be certified
