Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, interviews, reference checks, and onboarding.
  • Develop and implement effective recruitment and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Assist in workforce planning and identify future staffing needs.
  • Assist in creating job descriptions and postings that align with organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with senior management to assess staffing needs and workforce planning.
  • Support performance management by guiding Directors and Managers on employee relations, performance management, and progressive discipline.
  • Ensure compliance with cultural safety guidelines, labor laws, and privacy and security legislation, including PIPEDA and PHIPA.
  • Promote fair and consistent application of HR policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Collaborate with the HR Coordinator, OHS Manager and Benefits and Compensation Specialist to maintain accurate employee records and ensure efficient HR operations.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and procedures.
  • Work with Program Managers to integrate community feedback and cultural insights into HR policies and practices.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of orientation and training programs for new and existing employees.
  • Provide guidance on employee wellness and engagement initiatives to foster a positive work environment.
  • Provide support across Human Resource team, when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Diploma or certificate in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for professional interactions with employees, management, and external partners.
  • Ability to build positive relationships, support employees, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and workplace policies, with a commitment to staying informed on relevant regulations.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive employee information.
  • Awareness of diverse work environments, with experience working in or alongside First Nation communities, considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle
  • Understanding and/or speaking Ojibway is an asset
  • Willing to travel when required
  • Current satisfactory criminal reference check
