Camp Stephens provides a unique opportunity for everyone. Cabin Leaders are key to ensuring the safety and well-being of campers on the island. They lead and supervise their cabin group, create a positive environment, and guide campers through activities. As role models, they offer care and support while working with the team to create a memorable camp experience.

Wages: New hire-$58.33 per day & Returning staff-$62.50 per day (plus room & board)

Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Be a positive role model and lead cabin participants consistently.
  • Guide campers through daily activities, helping them build skills and confidence.
  • Create an inclusive, positive, and respectful environment.
  • Support the camp team to ensure smooth operations and communication.
  • Plan and deliver engaging programs suited to the cabin group’s age and abilities.
  • Manage group dynamics to ensure a safe and harmonious experience.
  • Provide individualized care based on each camper’s needs.
  • Ensure campers’ emotional and physical safety at all times.
  • Work with Co-Cabin Leaders to enhance teamwork and personal development.
  • Support camp-wide programs, including evening activities and mealtimes.
  • Complete evaluations at the start, middle, and end of the season.
  • Keep records up to date and assist with planning and cabin-related documentation.
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Certificate: Emergency First Aid, Non Violent Crisis Intervention, Mental Health First Aid, Bronze Cross
  • Y Winnipeg Staff required trainings: Workplace Safety & Health, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act Training (AODA), Respectful Workplace, Child Protection
  • Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Manitoba Class 5F License (Ontario G2 License)

Note – for successful candidates who do not have all of the above required trainings, the Y Winnipeg is willing to provide.
