Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:

We provide primary health care through a range of options including prevention, assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Our team includes health professionals, educators and support workers representing both traditional Anishinaabe and contemporary models of care, and uses wholistic health and community development concepts.

This is a casual position involving shift work, including weekends. The hostel operates 24/7 and provides
a supportive environment for clients and family members requiring overnight accommodations; while accessing health care services in Kenora. Maintaining cleanliness of the facility is a requirement of the position. The position may also involve client and family crisis, and facilitating access to other WNHAC or community resources. We are seeking individuals who can be available on a casual or on-call basis to complete shift schedules or fill in temporary absences.

NOTE: Anishinaabe traditional practices involving burning sacred medicines including tobacco, sweetgrass, sage and cedar and other cultural protocols occur regularly within our work setting.

Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Grade 12/GED and additional training or experience appropriate to the position
  • Ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team environment
  • Good physical health (ability to do heavy lifting/complete strenuous tasks)
  • Ability to speak and understand Ojibwe an asset
  • Proof of immunization in compliance with policy requirements is mandatory prior to start of employment;
  • Valid drivers’ license and own vehicle required for the hostel
  • Criminal reference check, vulnerable sector search required
  • Positive attitude and capacity to act as a healthy lifestyle role model
