Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
Washagamis Bay First Nation is currently accepting applications for a School Bus Driver. This position will be based out of the community of Washagamis Bay First Nation. The individual will be responsible for working with various ages/grades from K-12.
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
· Applicant is required to hold and maintain a B or E Class license
· Drivers must demonstrate their knowledge of traffic laws, policies and procedures in addition to demonstrating exemplary driving skills and the safe operation
· Drivers must also meet minimum vision and medical standards
· Criminal Record Check
· In Ontario, it is required to complete a government-approved school bus driver improvement course (SBDIC) – available in Dryden
· Driver’s Abstract – history
· Knowledge of school bus equipment, daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections, safe driving techniques including defensive driving skills, procedures for loading and unloading passengers, procedures for entering and exiting school zones, student management, accident and emergency response including evacuation, First Aid/CPR, route instructions, use of electronic communications
· Bus driving experience would be an asset
· Training would be available to the successful candidate if required or preferred
