We are looking for a Daycare Manager to join our client’s team of committed professionals at the Anishinaabe of Wauzhushk Onigum’s Childcare Centre (Kinew Childcare Centre). This full-time position is located in the First Nation.

Under the supervision of the Education Director, the Daycare Manager will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day office operations and completing all clerical functions of the center.

Kinew Childcare Centre is a licensed daycare center. They offer a variety of activities to enhance the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development of children. They provide a variety of school readiness programs and incorporate Native cultural programs with daily community-based programming.

Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:

As the Daycare Manager you will:

  • Maintain Children’s files and staff personnel records.
  • Maintain financial vendor files manually and electronically.
  • Process invoices, purchase orders, and complete cheque requisitions.
  • Complete bi-weekly payroll, process, and submit remittances.
  • Maintain attendance records of children and staff.
  • Complete and submit budget submissions and quarterly/year-end financial reporting to all funders.
  • Record all incoming/outgoing mail, answer phones, and maintain a logbook.
  • Attend staff meetings, distribute agendas and record minutes.
  • Keep inventory and replenish office supplies as needed.
  • Provide coverage breaks/lunches as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Education Director
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Office Administration 2-year Diploma or 1-year Certificate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills (Anishinaabemowin is considered an asset).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Familiar with Accounting and Payroll software.
  • Experience in a daycare setting with solid knowledge of the Childcare & Early Years Act (CCEYA).
  • Knowledge of appropriate health and safety standards and codes.
  • Ability to protect the confidentiality of all information and communications (oral and written) of Kinew Childcare Center, staff, students, volunteers, and the children in our care and their families.
  • Knowledge of the Anishinaabe Traditions, Values, Culture, and Language.
  • Current and satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Checks.
  • Up-to-date Immunizations Record.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR (Level C).
