Water First & Anishinaabeg of Kabapikotawangag Resource Council are looking for Drinking Water Interns! For more information on this LEAP job posting, check out the details below!
• Interns will receive technical, hands-on training in a number of areas to gain transferable skills related to water quality
• The internship includes hands-on workshops, 15 months of paid internship work experience and the ability to obtain Small Systems Certificate, Operator in Training (OIT) Certificate, Entry Level Certification for Drinking Water Operators (ELC), Water Quality Analyst (WQA) Certificate and Class 1 Treatment
• Interns will work in the local Water Treatment Plants assisting the Plant Operators, as well as conduct other duties as assigned
• Additional supports including travel and phone allowance, training and accommodations and limited child care support if available for qualified candidates
• Women are water-keepers and are encouraged to apply
• Must be affiliated with one of the First Nations in the AKRC
• High School Diploma or equivalent or ability to obtain with tutoring support during the duration of the program
• Eligible for community skills training support
• Seeking full-time work
• Must be available for duration of 15-month internship
• Must be willing to travel (paid) for training
Desired Additional Qualifications:
• Interest in water and environmental science. Enjoys physical activity and being outdoors
• Strong performance and completion of grade 11 or 12 math and science classes
• Ability to identify issues and problem solve, not afraid to tackle problems hands on
• Self-starter, organized and excited to learn new things
• Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle considered an asset
