Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:

The general duties of the KHA Executive Director will be, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of the KHA’s business plan based on the Mobilizing KHA 2019 strategic objectives – where elements remain the unchanged
  • Responsibility for the achievement of budgets and operational plans, including regular review
  • Responsibility for compliance with KHA policies and regulations and city bylaws – particularly the MAT bylaw and agreement
  • Development of the KHA’s policy guidelines, including KHA code of conduct
  • Optimization and allocation of KHA’s resources

The Executive Director is the key management leader of the Kenora Hospitality Alliance (KHA). The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Board Governance: Works with Board to fulfill the organization mandate.

  • Responsible for leading the KHA in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mandate as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board, and providing in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.

  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the KHA to include submission to the Board a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
  • Responsible for fundraising, seeking sponsorships and developing other resources necessary to support the KHA’s mandate.

Organization Strategy: Works with the Board to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and partnerships.

  • Responsible for implementation of the KHA’s programs that carry out the organization’s mandate.
  • Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that KHA can successfully fulfill its mandate into the future.
  • Responsible for the enhancement of KHA’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, municipal and private organizations.

Organization Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate.

  • Responsible for the effective administration of KHA operations.
  • Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.
  • Responsible for managing KHA’s marketing and online presence (social media & website)
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Background in tourism, sales or marketing
  • Organized and possession of administrative experience
  • Ability to work independently, yet within a framework
  • A high energy individual who can sell themselves and tourism in Kenora
  • A bachelor’s degree (or comparative experience)
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Solid, hands-on budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making & reporting
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Willingness to develop and implement fundraising strategies to support the KHA’s strategic activities
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate Board members and members
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse community partners and groups
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
  • Strong public speaking ability
