Duties of this LEAP Job Posting: The Devil’s Gap Marina is Kenora’s premiere Gas Bar/Convenience Store/Marina wholly owned by the Anishinaabe of Wauzhushk Onigum that provides docking, gas, and confection services to a wide range of customers. We are accepting applications from highly motivated individuals with the demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.

Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with the Devil’s Gap and Bare Point Managers, the Finance Assistant will play a key role in the daily finances of Devil’s Gap Marina and Bare Point Marina & RV Park. The Finance Clerk is responsible for the bookkeeping as well as ensuring the accuracy of the corporation’s financial records including, without limitation, verifying invoices, processing payments, reconciling accounts, journal entries, and government remittances.

Duties include:

  • Ensure proper recording and bookkeeping of all financial records.
  • Process deposits, accounts receivable, and accounts payable in a timely manner.
  • Prepare prepaid, unearned revenue for monthly posting.
  • Complete monthly reconciliations.
  • Ensure all bookkeeping procedures, accounting records, and financial reports are accurate and current to allow for appropriate decision-making.
  • Prepare backup documentation required for Auditors as well as other reporting requirements.
  • Work as part of a team.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:

  • Extensive bookkeeping, financial management, budgeting experience.
  • Strong grasp of GAAP.
  • Computer software knowledge including Microsoft Office and Sage 50. Experience with Wiz-Tec POS is an asset. Able to learn and adapt to new IT systems quickly.
  • Degree or Certificate in Accounting, Business Administration, or a minimum of 3 years proven experience in a similar position. Other combinations of relevant skills, education and experience may be considered.
  • Accounting experience in a convenience store & gas bar setting is an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Class G licence required as well as access to a vehicle.
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and be able to work independently.
  • Good critical thinking skills for problem-solving and excellent time management.
