Ne-Chee Friendship Centre requires an enthusiastic, energetic individual to deliver its Wasa-Nabin program, focusing on after-school interventions. This position will be responsible to ensure that the needs of children, ages 13-18, identified as at risk, are met in a timely and culturally sensitive manner.

Wages: $46,000 to $48,000 to start
Duties of this LEAP Job Posting: - Ensure the development and implantation of a full range of program services
- Ensure that the Wasa-Nabin program is grounded in culture-based youth development principles and practices; increase cultural understanding of youth and their families
- Promote awareness and ensure access to the Wasa-Nabin Program
- Promote the development of protocols and referral agreements as appropriate to meet the developmental needs of Indigenous youth in the community
- Conduct a needs assessment for youth and to develop a plan of action to meet the needs of youth referred to the program
- Refer youth to appropriate services as required to meet the needs of the youth and to document the results of these referrals
- Initiate and participate in case conferences as necessary to ensure the needs of the youth are met
- Co-ordinate individual and group activities (physical, social) as required to meet the needs of program clients
- Engage in “one to one” counselling and peer support
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting: - Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social or Human services; or relevant accredited training combined with related work experience
- Previous work experience with Indigenous children and youth
- Ability to work professionally, collaboratively with children, youth & their families as well as agency, community and agency personnel
- Knowledge of Ojibway traditions and culture
- Excellent communication skills both written & verbal; proficient in offering presentations
- Positive attitude & demonstrated capacity to act as a healthy lifestyle role model
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Able to work flexible hours including weekends & evenings
- First Aid/CPR training definite asset; Working knowledge of computers
