Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Land-based Program Coordinator shall deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed service coordination, supervision and administration for the Strecker property. The Land-based Program Coordinator will coordinate and support the delivery of programming that is rooted in traditional
Anishinaabe approaches to healing and wellness, utilizing the land, ceremonies, medicine and various cultural practices to support participants. The Land-based Program Coordinator will support the wellness/care planning of individual participants by offering a variety of supports such as connecting with Elders and Knowledge
Keepers, as well as facilitating land-based and cultural activities.

Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Knowledge of Anishinaabe traditional practices and ability to share this with participants and staff
  • Experience leading activities, coordinating programs and/or supervising a team in an outdoor setting
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships and provide sound decision-making and leadership
  • Strong commitment to values and ethics in both personal and professional manner
  • Understand and believe in a holistic strengths-based approach to supporting youth and their families.
  • Development and implementation of land-based programs, retreats, and activities
  • Liaising with communities to schedule activities and property booking
  • Data tracking, management, and evaluation planning
  • Must have proven ability to work independently, and in a team setting
  • Excellent skills in the following areas: computer, organization, networking, interpersonal, presentation
    and communication (written & oral)
  • Ability to deal with crisis and post-crisis situations
  • Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture and language, and experience in working in First Nation communities.
  • Act as liaison for contracted services such as Traditional Knowledge Keepers/Elders;
  • Provide some staff training in areas of land-based and/or cultural services;
  • In collaboration with department teams, support staff to best meet the needs of KCA programs and
    participants.

Position Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle.
  • Willing to travel (when required) to any Treaty 3 First Nation communities;
  • Current satisfactory criminal reference check with vulnerable sector search;
  • Understanding of the language of the Anishinaabe language (Ojibway) is an asset.
