Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:

The duties listed represent most of the functions of the line cook, however, are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and cook breakfast for staff and guests – both buffet and plated
  • Prepare and cook lunch for staff and guests. Buffet and off the menu to order
  • Prepare and assist with dinner service – set menu and alternative menu
  • Preparing shore lunch trays, load-up trays and arrival trays, often with little notice
  • Ensure creative and different options daily
  • Flair for a creative and beautiful presentation
  • Daily baking (bread, cookies, muffins, pastries, desserts etc.)
  • Prepare and cook special meals for guests as instructed by the Head Chef
  • Work within planned forecast in regard to food portions, food requirements and costs, and minimize waste and spoilage
  • Assist Head Chef with menu planning and special events
  • Ensure that all areas of the kitchen are clean and sanitized according to Health regulations
  • Dishes
  • Always ensure proper handling of food, cleanliness and organization
  • Maintain proper timelines when preparing meals for service
  • Assist Head Chef with inventory and control procedures
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Previous kitchen experience is a MUST
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities and succeed in a high-pressure environment
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, first aid, health and safety standards and maintaining those standards at all times
  • Work well independently as well as part of a team
  • Able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure
  • Must be able to lift/carry and stand/walk for 8+ hours per day
  • Must be able to work in an environment that produces exposure to heat, steam, cleaning chemicals and solvents and practice appropriate safety protocol
  • Must present a clean and professional appearance at all times
  • Willing to work a variety of shifts, including split shifts and early morning shifts
  • Must be punctual and reliable for early morning shifts

The candidate must be willing to relocate for the summer (housing and meals provided), must have a
previous cooking experience, and must possess knowledge of Health Regulations in regard to Food
Service. A Food Safe Level 1 Certificate would be an asset. This position runs from May – October.
