Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:

Training Coordination/Capacity Building

  • Training may be provided on culturally safe care, trauma-informed care and bicultural models of healing and wellness;
  • Develop networks and partnerships with community resources with regard to mental health and addictions;
  • Collaborate with other agencies and institutions to assess mental healthcare community training needs; 
  • Develop an annual training plan;
  • Develop and facilitate accredited training;
  • Develop and provide ‘train the trainer’ modules to ensure sustainability.


Health Promotion/Prevention

  • Provide training targeting community membership broadly, including, youth, and families, the elderly, women and children as well as other service organizations, provincial/territorial organizations, and government agencies;
  • Develop and/or provide education for community members at risk and their families in collaboration with community workers on issues such as self-care, healthy lifestyles, assertiveness training, and anger management;
  • Engage in outreach to schools and other community organizations as needed to support culturally safe care. 
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting;
  • Excellent skills in the following areas: computer, organization, networking, interpersonal, presentation and communication (written & oral);
  • Experience working with and knowledge of Indian Residential School survivors;
  • Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture and language and experience in working in First Nation communities;
  • University degree or college diploma from a recognized post secondary institution (Psychology or social work)
  • Several years of presentation/public speaking experience;
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle;
  • Willing to travel (when required) to all Treaty #3 First Nation communities;
  • Current satisfactory criminal reference check with vulnerable sector search;
