The Kiizhik Education Corporation Team is growing and looking for a new Physical Education Teacher. They would be responsible for the overall program delivery at Kiizhik Education Corporation. The Physical Education Teacher will ensure that the students who attend have programming and support that meet their own unique, emotional, cultural, social and physical needs. The Physical Education teacher reports to the Elementary and High School Principals.

Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Preparation of course outline and daily lesson plans for students from K-Grade 12
  • Plan a balance of games, dance, movement education, outdoor and recreational activities, and opportunities to focus on developing fitness
  • Prepare reports of students’ academic performance, and to record and to maintain students’ achievements from the assigned course
  • Planning, supporting, and running extracurricular activities
  • Motivation and encourage students to participate in healthy lifestyle activities
  • Prepare necessary supplementary teaching materials
  • Assess and evaluate students’ achievements of course expectations in accordance with the regulations and curricular guidelines of the Ontario Ministry of Education
  • Prepare and mark all tests, quizzes and final examinations
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Bachelor of Arts/Science or Bachelor of Education
  • Ability to teach Fitness courses and outdoor education
  • Expertise in the following is an asset: Basketball, Floor hockey, Volleyball, Badminton and Team Sports
  • Membership in the Ontario College of Teachers
  • First Aid/CPR Certification is an asset
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills essential
  • Experience with integrating of Anishinaabe culture and land-based teaching into curriculum an asset
  • Valid driver’s licenses and access to a vehicle
