Women’s Place Kenora is a resource centre empowering all women working within a feminist perspective. We provide peer/group counselling, workshops, referrals, pre-employment and entrepreneurship training, farmer’s market opportunities, community kitchens, lending library, community gardens, free-cycle room, and public awareness events.
The Program Assistant will work closely with the Executive Director at the centre. A friendly and outgoing personality will relish in this very creative position. Learning about the challenges women face in our community and trying to find resourceful ways of getting major needs met is a daily goal but through networking and creative brainstorming, the program assistant will understand and contribute to helping women overcome barriers.
Working with culturally diverse women
Referrals to community resources
Assist with all aspects of workshops
Management of donations & Women Needs List
Making WPK products to sell at market
Maintain client notes in database
Attendance at Farmer’s Market
Maintaining the outdoor library
Open to students between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
Students must have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
Current criminal reference check required
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Good communication skills both oral and written
Positive and friendly attitude and is eager to learn about women’s realities, valuable & creative possibilities & food security
