The Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre is a community based, Indigenous controlled, Primary Care service that combines western curative care with traditional Ojibway healing philosophies and practices. The Access Centre provides clinical, social, health promotion and preventive services, as well as, access to traditional Ojibway healers.

The Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre, located in the heart of the Fort Frances Tribal Area and the Rainy River District, is the result of a unique partnership between area First Nations, the United Native Friendship Centre and the Sunset Country Metis.

Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:

Summary of Position

Reporting to the Clinic Programs Manager, the Registered Nurse/Clinic Lead will provide direct nursing care, deliver health education programs and assist physician and nurse practitioners with medical procedures. To act as a lead in the daily nursing operations provided in the clinic. Participates in planning, developing, implementing, interpreting, and monitoring program operations, policies, and procedures. This is a full time, permanent position.

Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:

Completion of a university, college or other approved registered nursing program;

  • Current Ontario RN License
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current BCLS certificate
  • Phlebotomy certification required
  • 2-3 years clinic/hospital recent nursing required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures;
  • Ability to provide patient care; and to prepare and maintain records;
  • Ability to effectively communicate.

Desired

  • Experience and understanding of local Indigenous communities and culture within the Rainy River district an asset
  • Ability to speak Ojibway is an asset
