Shewchuk Ormiston LLP is looking for a self-motivated Legal Assistant to join our team. Under the guidance of law professionals, you will be providing legal services by performing a variety of tasks, including locating and compiling information, drafting, preparing and proofreading legal and administrative documents (e.g., acts, contracts, legal opinions, procedures, correspondence, etc.), filing court documents, as well as applying various practices and procedures related to the field of law.
- Provide administrative support to lawyers
- Handle communications with clients
- Type and file legal documents and correspondence
- Answer and direct phone calls
- Maintain client contact lists
- Create bills to send to clients
- Proficiency in English
- Computer literacy
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure
- Legal Assistant Certificate or Diploma would be an asset; however, training will be provided
- Working experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary would be an asset
