The Boat Centre/LOTW Docking is looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Junior Mechanic / Boat Yard Technician. This position is very exciting and has a fast-paced work life where your responsibilities may change from day to day while keeping in mind the short-term and long-term goals for each of the businesses. Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
Position Overview:
- Keep the shop and shop yard clean and organized
- Launch/Pull customer boats from water
- Winterize/Summerize boats
- Replace/repair any and all mechanical/electronics work as assigned
- Complete Interior and Exterior Detail/Polish work on boats as assigned
- Learn about and complete Gelcoat Repairs as directed
- Installation of boat accessories
- Document all work completed, and parts used for repairs as well as the time duration for repair
- Ordering parts stock/repair parts as required
- Tracking and updating shop inventory records
- Build relationships with shop customers and promote the different shop services
- Work as required to fulfill operations requirements such as property openings and maintenance
- Assist in the process of setting up docks for the summer
- Assist in winterizing/summarizing water pressure systems for marinas and other properties
- Assist in marina openings
- Other operational duties as assigned
Major Work Activities:
The Junior Mechanic / Boat Yard Technician is responsible for the execution of business activities at The Boat Centre/LOTW Docking in the following ways but not limited to:
LOTW Docking
- Reaching out to customer database by phone to secure new business and respond to inquiries for the following areas: winterization & storage, boat service, repair, and detailing
- Developing and maintaining a strong relationship with customers to increase customer retention and satisfaction
- Assisting in the removal and installation of dock ramps and anchors at all docking __cpLocations
- Assisting in the draining and energizing water systems at Marinas
- Assisting in maintenance for docking __cpLocations when required throughout the season
- Assisting in Spring and Fall Winterization of Docks at each Docking Location
- Other operational duties as assigned
The Boat Centre
- Answering the shop phone/texts and providing quotes to potential customers
- Working closely with The Boat Centre shop manager to secure new business by creating and confirming customer quotes
- Wrapping and Unwrapping Boats and watercraft
- Organizing Boats in the Yard
- Transporting boats between Lake of The Woods and The Boat Centre
- Mechanical repairs as assigned by the shop manager
- Completing and keeping record of checklists for all vessels and vessel contents going into and coming out of storage
- Shrink wrapping and winterizing Customers’ boats for storage
- Other operational duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Certificates/Licenses:
Junior Mechanic/Boat Yard Technician maintains:
- PWC license and extensive boating experience
