Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:

The Wiisokodaadig (Peer Helpers) Coordinator is part of the Health Promotion and Prevention team at Kenora Chiefs Advisory and reports directly to the Health Promotion Manager. As the Wiisokodaadig Coordinator, you will be responsible for organizing Peer helpers training for the youth living in the KCA member First Nation communities. The main objective of the project is to develop leadership skills and abilities in the youth. You shall develop productive communication and interactions with the KCA Youth Council and be responsible for coordinating meetings and requests for the council.

  • Develop and update the Peer Helpers curriculum
  • Coordinate all activities for the KCA Youth Council (meetings, travel, communication)
  • Organize the logistics of the Peer Helpers and Youth training projects
  • Arrange for selection of participants from the various communities
  • Arrange for and secure appropriate space for training
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of activities for the groups
  • Organize scheduling for travel, training and group activities
  • Arrange for appropriate follow up activities in the communities, in cooperation with assigned Case
  • Manager and Community workers
  • Prepare summaries and reports on training content and evaluation as required by the Director of Services—Health Promotion and Prevention and the Ministries
  • Keep accurate financial records and arrange for all disbursements related to the program
  • Prepare a final report at the end of each fiscal year
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Highly motivated with well-developed organizational skills
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a health services team
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, problem solving and leadership skills
  • Post-secondary education in the Social Sciences
  • Demonstrated experience working with youth
  • Experience in project development is an asset
  • General understanding of First Nation culture, values and beliefs
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle
  • Must be willing to travel when required
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends on occasion
